You’ve probably heard that it’s important to date your spouse.
You’ve probably heard that you should go out once a week or at least once a month.
You also probably have heard that dating your spouse will bring you closer, foster romance, and strengthen your love.
And that’s all true.
But as you know, sometimes life can get in the way. Our intentions may be good but weeks or even months can literally pass away and you haven’t found time for your partner.
This is fatal to a successful marriage.
Sometimes planning a date can be tricky.
Getting a babysitter, making reservations, even coming up with extra money can all get complicated.
Every day is different but if you’re like most people, your mornings are spent bathing, eating, and racing out the door to school or work.
A “good-bye honey” and a quick peck on the cheek might be all of the interaction you have.
Afternoons and evenings can be just as busy. Even weekends can get bogged down with soccer games and home projects.
If you’re like many people, you finally get around to each other late in the evening when the kids are in bed and all work matters have been shelved for the day.
And by then you might be too tired to do anything meaningful.
Getting around to that all important date might be the last thing on your mind.
Go on a date every single day!
I don’t mean going out to a fancy restaurant or a night at the opera or anything like that.
I’m referring to setting aside a certain time every day to meet and hang out together.
It’s really about spending time together. It’s about making each other a priority.
It’s really a way to get out of the daily grind and just plain enjoy one another’s company.
It doesn’t matter the length of time as much as the intention that you both set.
Even with a busy schedule, with some creativity, you can sneak in some husband/wife time every day.
With that in mind, below are some ideas for what I’ll label as “daily dating”. Not all of these are super original or complex.
But that’s not the point. The point is to squeak in intentional time together. That’s all.
Some quick ideas for daily dating:
- Make a good breakfast and eat it together
- Shower together
- Go on a midday picnic
- Go to the park
- Work out together
- Do household chores together
- Have a quickie
- Read together
- Watch a movie together
- Massage (sensual massage, if you wish)
- Watch the sunset
- Make dinner together then…
- Eat the dinner together – use the china
- Tuck the kids in together
- Pray together
- Make a dessert together
- Set or revisit your goals
- Listen to music together
- Have an impromptu dance party
Like I mentioned, none of these ideas may be astounding to you but it’s important to do them.
Bottom line, these ideas eliminate the excuse, “We just don’t have time to go on a date”.
Whatever your activity may be, if you’re both doing it with the intention of making time for each other, then you’ll get the full effect of an all out date.
